You can register for Meadowside Nature Center's summer camps online at www.ParkPASS.org, beginning January 9th, 2012, or by calling Meadowside at 301-258-4030, Tuesday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.. You must have a ParkPASS account to register.
Camps for toddlers
Wee Little Farmers - FULL!!!
Join us for some down-home fun on the farm! Our mornings will be full of stories, activities, crafts, and real farm animals to visit with and pet. Meet at the Agricultural History Farm Park (18400 Muncaster Rd., Derwood, 20855). Parents will stay with their children throughout this camp. Register the child only; no fee for accompanying adult.

Discover the natural world! Reading stories, meeting live animals, catching bugs, and hiking are a few of the fun adventures in store for you and your child. Parents will need to stay with their children all five mornings. Register child only; no fee for accompanying adult.

Wings of Wonder Camp
From hawks to hummingbirds, this is the camp for kids who like to learn about birds and their amazing adaptations. They’ll help take care of Meadowside’s birds of prey and learn about raptors, find out how to identify local birds, take a field trip to see osprey banding on the Patuxent, follow a bluebird trail, play games, and more.

Animal Discovery Camp
Find out about the animals that make our park their home— birds, mammals, fish, insects, reptiles, and more. We’ll explore places where our local animals live, eat, and grow; learn how to be good caretakers of our local wildlife; and create special nature projects to take home and treasure. Spend the whole day with us! Register separately for Animal Discovery Lunch Break (bring your lunch) and Ponds, Puddles & Pools in the afternoon.

Can’t resist getting wet on a hot summer day? Join us in water play and explorations. We’ll learn about and enjoy different types of water habitats and the many animals that swim, hop, or sneak along the water’s edge. Each day we’ll learn about something wet, wild and wonderful!

Junior Naturalist Outdoors Adventure Camp
Explore unique habitats and see wildlife up close while playing hard at lots of great outdoor adventures. Campers will work with bird researchers in the field; hike; go kayaking; and visit a wild cave where we’ll climb, crawl, and twist through unrivaled cave formations!

Nature and Science Camp
Explore nature and science through hands-on experiments, field trips and other fun activities. We’ll experiment with things that bang, pop, and fizz. Learn about the forces of nature and see who can build the best earthquake-resistant building. Perform environmental tests and experiment with oil spill cleanups. Investigate the limits of amusement park physics building our own roller coasters, and more!

Enjoy crafts, games, adventures, food and fun just like the American Girls! Activities include Kit’s hobo village, Samantha’s day in the park, Molly’s “We Can Do It” recycling hike, and lots more. Chesapeake Week
Explore the Chesapeake Bay and the watershed region by sailing, camping, canoeing and more! We’ll begin the week exploring the Bay by boat as we hoist our sails, trawl for fish, and analyze water samples looking for microscopic life forms. Mid-week, we’ll hop into canoes to get a more intimate look at the Bay’s waterways, camp for two nights, and go fossil hunting. We’ll close out the week by examining the lives of people who have made the Bay their home throughout the years, including early American colonists and Native Americans living in long house villages.

iHelp
Spend four days and three nights in the great outdoors, learning all about your county parks while doing meaningful service projects (SSL-approved). By day, you’ll meet the folks who keep the parks running, from Park Managers and Park Police to natural resource experts. By night, you’ll swing through the trees at the Go Ape rope course; enjoy night hikes, campfires, and lots more! We’ll spend each night camping in beautiful Little Bennett Park. iHike
Come with us to hike the entire Maryland section of the Appalachian Trail! We’ll start our 40-mile hike on the Maryland/Pennsylvania state line and head south along South Mountain, covering about 10 miles a day. During the day we’ll take in all the trail has to offer, including breathtaking views, local history, and some beautiful state parks. For two of the three nights, we’ll camp in shelters along the trail. On our second night, we’ll get some well-earned R&R when we tent camp at Greenbrier State Park, where we’ll enjoy swimming, canoeing and hot showers. Are you up for the challenge?

Archaeology camp for teens
Archaeology Leader Training Workshop for Teens
Want to become an awesome camp counselor, get hands-on archaeological experience and earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours? Sign up for this ten-day workshop! In the first week, you’ll learn the basics of archaeological methods, get CPR training, and practice creating and planning camp activities. The second week we’ll dig into the real thing! You’ll work with campers, and have an opportunity to ask questions and get feedback in our counselors’ afternoon roundtables.

Montgomery Parks summer camp refund policy
Refund Policy
- If Montgomery Parks has to cancel a Summer Camp, you will be notified and receive a full credit on your ParkPASS account, or at your request, a full refund (issued in the same form as received).
- To withdraw from a Montgomery Parks Summer Camp, please submit a written request to the facility hosting your camp or program at least two (2) weeks prior to the start of the camp. Most facilities accept email as a “written request,” but please check with the facility hosting your camp or program. You may choose to receive a 100% credit to your ParkPASS account for future programs or classes, or receive a refund (issued in the same form as received), less a 20% administrative fee.
- If your written request is received less than two (2) weeks prior to the start of the camp, no credit or refund will be issued unless your spot can be filled from the waitlist. If your spot is filled, you may choose to receive a 100% credit to your ParkPASS account for future programs or classes, or receive a refund (issued in the same form as received), less a 20% administrative fee.
Please allow 3-4 weeks to receive a check refund. Credit card refunds can take 5-7 days to appear on your credit card account, depending on your credit card company
