Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park is a 17.4 acre park adjacent to Piney Branch Elementary School. Scheduled to open in June 2012, the newly renovated park will contain a new picnic pavilion, basketball courts, two playgrounds, and a skateboard park. The park will also have a soccer field, softball field, sand volleyball court, improved entrances with public artwork, and an improved parking lot with handicapped parking. In addition, park users will enjoy a looped path around the park, natural surface trails and pedestrian connections, along with an accessible ramp to access the picnic pavilion.

This park was acquired in 1981. Please contact the Park Permit Office to reserve the picnic shelter at Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park. The picnic pavilion is available by permit through the Park Permit Office. The Ed Wilhelm Field (a soccer field) is permitted by the city of Takoma Park. Please contact them at 301-891-7290.

Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park benefitted from a generous donation to the Montgomery Parks Foundation made by The Steve Francis Foundation. The picnic pavilion is dedicated in the memory of Steve’s late mother, Brenda Wilson Bryant. The basketball court is dedicated to Tony Langley, long-time President of the Takoma Park Boys and Girls Club.
