Description
Upper Magruder Branch Stream Valley Park
Lower Magruder Branch Stream Valley Park
This project extends the existing Magruder Branch Trail located in the Magruder Branch Stream Valley Park from its current terminus at Valley Park Drive northward to the Damascus Town Center. The existing trail is 3.1 miles in length, and this project extends the trail an additional 0.75 mile.
Background
A facility planning study was conducted, and a plan for the trail extension was approved by the Montgomery County Planning Board on October 4, 2007. The trail is an eight-foot wide hard surface trail that travels through a wooded stream valley and includes one bridge, 1,300 linear feet of boardwalk through sensitive areas, road crossing improvements at Bethesda Church Road and amenities such as benches and a trailhead kiosk. Parking is available on Valley Park Drive, Bethesda Church Road and the existing Park & Ride lot at the intersection of Main Street and Woodfield Road. The project was approved by the Montgomery County Council for detailed design in FY13-14.
Status/Project Update
This project will begin design when funding becomes available.
